Watch Jeff Thaler – board member of the Gaudino Fund – give a TED talk on “Immersion in the Unfamiliar: An Education.” Enlightening and enjoyable.
Jeff Thaler created the “Resettling Refugees in Maine” winter study program at Williams College, enabling students to live in Portland with refugee families for the month of January. Students become more self-aware, motivated to learn, empathetic, and open to a world of ambiguity and uncertainty. Thaler also serves as visiting professor and assistant university counsel at the University of Maine.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
