Gaudino Scholar Update

The Gaudino Fund’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Amy Holzapfel, Professor of Theater, will serve as the college’s next Gaudino Scholar beginning July 1, 2023.

Professor Holzapfel will be the 18th faculty member to hold this title, a position that has been active since 1982 to further the legacy of the Fund’s namesake, Professor Robert Gaudino, in promoting experiential learning opportunities on and off campus that challenge students and colleagues to reflect upon their own assumptions and deepen their understanding of others.Amy’s three-year long Gaudino project, entitled ” Bodies of Knowledge: Embodied Practices Across Disciplinary, Global, and Digital Divides,” will explore how, where, and by whom knowledge is acquired, processed, and stored in and through embodied practices.

Amy’s vision for the project is to facilitate a deeper appreciation of ourselves and our humanity through engagement with embodied practices in the classroom and beyond.Amy will succeed current Gaudino Scholar, Jason Josephson Storm, Professor of Religion, who has served in this capacity since July 2020. The Board of Trustees is incredibly grateful to Jason and Amy for their contributions to furthering experiential learning in the Williams community through their current and future work as the Gaudino Scholar.
